People who can hear acquire language without any difficulty. By using the education opportunity given to them, they obtain basic skills and concepts in cognitive, perceptive and psycho-motor fields. However it is not that easy for individuals with special requirements to make use of the education given to them when compared to individuals with normal development stages.
Graphic design is a visual communication art. Graphic design is a creative process which unites art and technology while it conveys thoughts. It is a special occupation in the field of visual communication. It transforms data into knowledge and knowledge into visual knowledge. This work has been prepared to teach the Freehand programme which is one of the programmes that meets the need of designing as a result of the changes caused by computers and advanced communication technologies. Freehand programme, which is a multi-functional drawing, painting and composing programme, has been targeted for hearing impaired students to use faster and more easily. In order to make the learning more effective aim some materials have been prepared which will help the students understand the meanings of the visual symbols used in the short cut area of the programme menu options.
Conclusion; It has been seen that the visual materials prepared in this document are more effective than definitions and verbal explanations which are inadequate and that short cut display symbols in the menu options have been used by hearing impaired students to learn faster and more effectively.
